Welcome to the new Friends of the National World War II Memorial blog! In this space we hope to keep you updated with timely news items and interesting details about the organization and its supporters. We hope the content in this section is informative and interesting provides some color as to how we are dedicated to honoring and preserving the national memory of World War II and to creating the next “Greatest Generation” of tomorrow.
The Friends of the National World War II Memorial is the only organization that is commemorating the 75th anniversary of World War II with a four-year slate of events and ceremonies. Beginning in 2016 through 2020, Friends has committed to commemorate America’s critical battles and observances at the World War II Memorial.
2019 promises to be an active year for Friends. We already hosted three commemorations of battles at the memorial in January. On May 8, we will observe V-E Day, generally known as Victory in Europe Day, at the WWII Memorial. We hope you can join us.
You can see our full schedule of events for the year here.
