On December 7, 1941, the attack on Pearl Harbor changed the course of history. In less than two hours, 2,403 Americans were killed and 1,178 were wounded—a devastating loss that propelled the United States into World War II.
Eighty-five years later, we will remember them by name.
On Monday, December 7, beginning at 9:00 a.m. ET, Friends of the National World War II Memorial will gather at the National World War II Memorial’s Circle of Remembrance for a special Reading of the Names commemorating the 85th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Over the course of approximately three hours, the names of all 2,403 Americans who lost their lives that day will be read aloud—one by one—honoring each life, each sacrifice, and a day our nation will never forget.
