Conference Overview
The 11th Annual Summer Teachers Conference brings educators together in Washington, D.C., to explore how generations of Americans have defended democracy both at home and abroad. Anchored in the 2026 theme—Defending Democracy at Home and Abroad: The Ongoing Legacy of Service in the American Story—the conference examines 250 years of military service, civic engagement, and the ongoing pursuit of equality. Through presentations, discussions, and on-site learning experiences, participants will engage with stories of resilience, patriotism, and sacrifice that shaped America’s victories abroad and the nation’s continued work toward a more perfect union.
Conference Benefits:
Eligibility:
The program is open to elementary, middle, and high school teachers, as well as college professors at accredited public, charter, private, or parochial schools who will be teaching during the 2024–2025 school year. Media specialists, librarians, curriculum coordinators, and academic coaches are also eligible, provided they spend at least half of their time directly instructing students.
Community Service Commitment:
At the core of the Friends' Teachers Network and Conference program is the idea of community service. As part of your participation, each attendee is expected to involve their students in fulfilling a community service obligation within their communities during the year following the conference.
