Art Kemp was born on February 9, 1924, and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a B-17 tail gunner stationed in England. He completed 35 combat missions over Europe and is credited with downing two German fighter planes while defending his crew and aircraft under fire.
After the war, Art returned home and worked as a machinist and tool & die maker. His love of aviation endured, and he became a licensed pilot of small planes, spending many years flying for enjoyment. Now living in Bellefontaine, Ohio, Art’s legacy reflects courage in wartime and a lifelong passion for flight.
