Dai Nin Tom

Dai Nin Tom

Dai was born in Fort Bragg, California, on February 5, 1924. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on December 14, 1942, beginning his service with six months of duty in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dai was later assigned to the NOB Iceland Navy Fuel Depot, Navy #25, where he served as a Steward’s Mate First Class USNR, responsible for caring for the officers' quarters.

Dai earned the Victory Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. In 2021, he was awarded the Chinese American World War II Congressional Gold Medal and was the only recipient to accept the honor unassisted. Dai Nin was honorably discharged on December 19, 1945.

Dai is the proud father of four children, grandfather of six, and great-grandfather of four. His 100th birthday was recently celebrated with all members of his family in attendance.
