Frank served as a paratrooper during World War II from June 19, 1942, to January 24, 1945. He was born in Idaho on March 22nd, 1925, and joined the military before completing his high school education in Black Point, Novato, California.
Frank was 19 years old when he fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Armed with a bazooka, he often served alongside the infantry due to poor flying conditions. His unit experienced many casualties, resulting in its absorption by several different units throughout his service.
Frank's mother noted that he did not like to discuss the war. She knew he had witnessed some horrible events during his service. Following the end of the war, Frank returned to the USA on the Queen Mary and received a white silk scarf to wear in the New York parade. Frank is still able-bodied, cooks his own meals daily, and hangs the American flag on his flagpole every holiday.
