John “Jack” V. Croul was born on June 8, 1924, and he served as a navigator in the 338th Bomb Squadron, which was part of the 96th Bomb Group, 45th Combat Wing, 8th Air Force during World War II.
As a navigator, Jack played a crucial role in strategic bombing missions over Europe. His unit carried out numerous high-risk operations deep into enemy territory, making significant contributions to the Allied air campaign. For his bravery and dedication, Jack received the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Purple Heart, the Air Medal, and the Presidential Unit Citation.
Jack passed away at the age of 100 on February 23, 2025.
