Max Adams was born on March 30, 1924, in Adrian, West Virginia, and now resides in Buckhannon. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in India in a non-combat role. After returning home, he married in 1947 and spent many years working in the coalfields of West Virginia. His wife has since passed, and he is the father of two children, one of whom is now deceased. He is also a proud grandfather and great-grandfather to many.
Max has been a dedicated member of Franklin Lodge No. 7 AF&AM in Buckhannon for decades and remains socially active in his community. Though he no longer golfs due to vision limitations, he still enjoys outings, especially in his motorhome, and regularly meets family and friends for lunch at CJ Maggie’s in Buckhannon and Muriale’s in Fairmont.
In recent years, Max was honored to participate in the Veterans Honor Flight from Clarksburg, an experience he deeply cherished. Known for his warmth and generosity, Max lived a life defined by service, kindness, and connection. Max passed away on June 13, 2024, at the age of one hundred.
