Norbert Andrew Gallas celebrated his 100th birthday on January 22nd, 2025. He served in the First Airborne Army from 1943 to 1946, participating in battles and campaigns across Northern France, the Ardennes, the Rhineland, and Central Europe. While with the First Airborne Army, he was stationed at the Big Three Conference in Potsdam, where he met Robert Murphy, the diplomatic chief of Germany, and Jefferson Caffrey, the Ambassador to France.
After his discharge from the Army, Mr. Gallas received the American Theater Ribbon, the EAMA Theater Ribbon with four Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Victory Medal. He was married to the late Geraldine for 58 years. Together, they had five children, eleven grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
