Owen Booth Cottle

Owen Booth Cottle was born on November 17, 1923, and grew up in Rowayton, Connecticut. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Forces as an armorer with the 387th Bomb Group (Medium), 9th Air Force. He was stationed in England, France, and Holland, where he participated in key campaigns, including Operation Overlord, the D-Day invasion of Normandy.

After the war, Owen settled in New York, living in Westchester and Dutchess Counties. He stayed active in veterans' affairs and community events, notably participating in the Rowayton Memorial Day Parade, where he once laid a memorial wreath in honor of fellow servicemen.

Owen passed away at home on November 19, 2024, just two days after his 101st birthday.
