Ralph E. Davitt was born on April 1, 1925. In July 1943, he joined the U.S. Army. Ralph then served with the 575th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion as an AAA Automatic Weapons S.P. He was trained to load and fire 37mm and .50 caliber anti-aircraft machine guns and also drove half-track weapon carriers.
Ralph served in several European countries during World War II, including England, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, and Austria, and saw combat in the infamous Battle of the Bulge. He was honorably discharged on March 24, 1946, after serving nearly three years.
Ralph Davitt passed away on June 5, 2024, at the age of 99.
