Si Liberman was born on September 2, 1924. In 1944, at age twenty, he served as a radio gunner with the U.S. Army Air Forces, flying thirteen bombing sorties from a base in northeast England. He was part of the 466th Bomb Group, 787th Bomb Squadron, operating a B-24 Liberator aircraft.
Si is the last surviving member of his flight crew. A photograph of him with his crew is positioned in the middle of the lower row.
He and his wife, Dorothy, celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary this year, surrounded by family. A commemorative photo shows Si and Dorothy on the front left. Si remains active, writing articles for newspapers and swimming regularly.
