Dr. Tommy Taylor was born on March 19, 1924, and served in the United States Army. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge, one of the war’s toughest campaigns, and received the Purple Heart for injuries sustained in combat.
Following the war, Tommy pursued higher education at the University of Missouri and graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) dental school. He went on to operate a successful dental practice for 35 years. Outside of his profession, he found great joy in barbershop singing and maintained an active lifestyle, completing a marathon at age 57 and continuing to stay fit through regular walks.
Tommy married Carol Osborn in 1959, and together they raised three children: Anne, Amy, and Tommy II. He is the proud grandfather of nine and great-grandfather of eight. A longtime member of Ashland UMC Church in St. Joseph, Missouri, Dr. Tommy Taylor’s life reflects a century of service, strength, and community.
