Doug Heimlich

Doug Heimlich has enjoyed volunteering with the National Park Service at the National World War II Memorial since February 2016.  A Philadelphia native, Doug resides in Bethesda, MD with his wife, Liz, and two-year old daughter, Charlotte.  Doug has two uncles that served in World War II:  Paul Jones, who was with the U.S. Army 1stInfantry and stationed in Nuremberg, Germany, and Robert Heimlich, who served in Germany with the U.S. Army 136th Ordnance Maintenance Unit.  Doug loves to share their stories, as well as his own knowledge of the Second World War with visitors, and is honored to serve as an escort to veterans during ceremonies at the National World War II Memorial.  Doug is occasionally joined by his yellow Lab, “Hardy,” as he makes the rounds at one of the most cherished monuments in our nation’s capital.
